This project receives funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No. 101261856
Join the IMACS Programme
The program supports 17 experienced researchers in biological and medical imaging recruited by Aix-Marseille University and the University of Tübingen (amU & UT) for a period of 36 months, in an environment of excellence that includes:
- high-level research
- access to state-of-the-art facilities
- personalized and group training
- career guidance and support
- international mobility
- individual exposure to intersectorality
Notes: All applications are evaluated according to the principles of transparency, scientific excellence, and equal opportunity.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Eligibility: Individuals who hold a Ph.D. as of November 30, 2026
- Mobility rules: Comply with the mobility rules for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions* (The applicant must not have resided or carried out their main professional activity in the host country for more than 12 months during the 36 months preceding the call deadline. Periods spent performing mandatory national service, short stays, and periods spent as part of a refugee status application process are not included in this calculation)
- Mandatory partnership:
- an international academic partner (for a 3-month secondment)
- a non-academic partner (= intersectorality: industrilas, patient associations, hospitals, NGOs, technology transfer and commercialization organizations, etc.)
Comments: no restrictions (gender, nationality, age, disability, etc.)
The Different Steps
- 1/ Identify a host laboratory whose expertise aligns with your research project.
- 2/ Identify a supervisor who will support you throughout the programme (research, training, data management plan, etc.).
- 3/ Identify an international academic partner (a foreign university located outside the host country).
- 4/ Identify a non-academic partner (companies, industrial firms, hospitals, patient associations, technology transfer and commercialisation organisations).
- 5/ Prepare your application by downloading the forms available in the “Templates” section.
- 6/ Submit your application via the dedicated platform (by 11/30/26): click HERE (starting 09/01/26).
Notes: Find all lists of laboratories (Amu and UT), supervisors, and potential partners in the “Stakeholders” section.
Following your application:
- Eligibility check: Applications are reviewed to ensure that all requirements are met.
- Scientific evaluation: Each project is evaluated by independent international experts.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are going to defense their capacity of presentation to the selection committee.
- Final ranking: The results of the evaluations and interviews are combined to determine the final ranking.
Each application must include:
- Application form: via the secure IMACS electronic submission system.
- Research and training proposal (maximum 10 pages)
- Preliminary data management plan, DMP (1 to 2 pages maximum)
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 5 pages)
- Ethics self-assessment (if necessary)
- Copy of doctoral degree certificate
- Copy of passport or national ID card
- Submission requirements:
- Application via the CIVIS website

Notes: Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be evaluated.
A particularly attractive environment:
- Through this programme of 6 M€, postdoctoral researchers will benefit from:
- a very competitive salary
- a research environment: a budget of 18,000 € allocated for project needs
- a personalised training environment dedicated to research: specific training in imaging and platform use, data management, and more
- a collaborative training environment: transferable skills, IMACS Days, key training in imaging, etc.
- support for mobility and networking: a budget of 10,800 € to facilitate international travel and activities.
Comments: The framework offers an attractive, interdisciplinary, strongly supported, and internationally focused research environment.
